The National Federation of Community Broadcasters is the leading voice for America’s media democracy. Founded in 1975, NFCB helps its nearly 200 community radio member stations support local arts, ideas, journalism and culture.
From webinars to information-rich newsletters, to initiatives like GiveBig to MyStation, NFCB provides media organizations access to best practices, trends, data and guidance in a rapidly changing landscape. In addition, its annual Community Media Conference is the signature event for non-commercial radio.
Along with its resources for community radio, such as its knowledge base and consultation, NFCB works with a variety of media groups on matters of policy, advocacy and media literacy. Among these efforts, NFCB has incubated public media organizations to serve specific constituencies. Currently, these include the Latino Public Radio Consortium (LPRC), Native Public Media (NPM), and Low Power FM stations.
