WLCH (91.3 FM/Lancaster & 100.3FM/York) “Radio Centro” was created to provide the Latino community in Central Pennsylvania with the opportunity to become informed about news, current events, educational and cultural programs. It also serves as a vehicle for greater interaction between our English and Spanish speaking communities, challenging both to become one community. WLCH is the only Latino, full time public and community radio station serving an audience that reaches Lancaster, York and Reading, PA.
WLCH 91.3 FM (Lancaster, PA) began broadcasting on September 14, 1987 and has provided consistent programming for over 29 years. On August 2, 2005, we began broadcasting in the city of York on 100.3 FM. WLCH offers its listeners a wide variety of bilingual programs that educate, inform and entertain. Our cultural programs provides music of various musical genres, history and artistic profiles, while our public affairs presentations offer insight on the issues affecting the community. WLCH’s news programs keep listeners informed of local, national, and international developments. Our educational offerings cover topics ranging from legal, health and financial issues. In addition, we dedicate substantial time and effort regarding health issues, such as chronic diseases, diabetes, behavioral health and HIV/AIDS.
WLCH Radio Centro provides listeners with many music programs (local or acquired productions) that range from “Alegre Despertar” (Puerto Rican folk music), “Mundofonias” (World Music) and “Jazzarama” (Jazz & Latin Jazz). The community is able to receive a wide array of news and public affairs programming, such as: “Café Con Leche” (a daily news and public affairs program), “Cita Con Su Salud” (a weekly health education & prevention program) and “Latino USA” (a weekly national radio news magazine on Latino issues).
Our public access TV station, Tele Centro, cable access channel 949 Lancaster, simulcasts some of WLCH’s programs. In addition, since 2015, in partnership with White Rose Community TV in York, we are able to simulcast on their cable TV signal our morning flagship program “Café Con Leche.”
WLCH Radio Centro is a component of a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization the Spanish American Civic Association (SACA). As a non-commercial public radio station, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission, we broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Financially, we rely on the financial support of the community, sponsorships and the underwriting of programs. WLCH is a member of the Latino Public Radio Consortium and the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB).
